Basilicata Day: the plot of An almost perfect country and the menu of the typical dinner
Pietramezzana’s village has to find a way to resolve the economic crisis after the closing of the local mine. The opening of a factory may be the solution. The protagonist Gianluca Terragni, a Milanese surgeon, influences the success of the project. An almost perfect country is a comedy, directed by Massimo Gaudioso. It is an Italian remake of the film Un village presque parfait, directed by Stéphane Meunier (2014). Gaudioso has debuted as director with Il caricatore (1996) and La vita è una sola (1999). He’s known for Primo amore (2004), Gomorra (2008), Reality (2012) and Dogman (2018). An almost perfect country was nominated for the Italian Award the David di Donatello for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2017. After the screening the event will continue with some specialities typical of Basilicata, prepared by Trattoria a’ Muntagnola. The menu includes pasta with fava beans and chicory, meatballs with eggs, mischiglio (fried mussels with legume flour and cereal flour). To conclude the night at best, we will enjoy a typical Basilicata dish: caponata alla Muntagnola, with aubergines, tomatoes, almonds and pine nuts.
